What a privilege it is to have a family and run a business you love. Yet, let’s face it. We have so many things going on that it can become easy to forget about our own health and well-being. As the ideas, creativity & paperwork flow alongside of the laundry, dishes and grocery runs, we must schedule in time to keep our mind, body and spirit well.

Setting aside time to nourish ourselves is not a selfish act. It is a healthful practice that can also be an act of worship unto God. Taking time to care for our bodies, the temple of the Holy Spirit, honors God and brings Him glory as we serve our customers and our families.

With this in mind, here are 7 ways to care for your well-being while you manage your business and your family:

1. Rest

Rest is a critical component to your health. Take breaks when you need to, sleep for at least 7-8 hours every night and listen to your body when it’s telling you to slow down a bit. Praying and leaning on God is a great, reliable way to stay rested.

And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14 ESV

2. Be Present

When you’re with your family, be with your family. When you are working, give it all you’ve got. No matter what you’re doing, be fully present and in the moment. God has blessed you with your business and family and being present allows you to enjoy each completely. 3. Set limits

Put limits on the amount of time you spend on your business. Endless days and nights will catch up with you. You should maintain a schedule that allows you to eat well, exercise and rest, while balancing the responsibilities of work and home.

4. Be consistent

Try going to bed at the same time every night, waking up at the same time in the morning and eating nutritious meals around the same time each day. This consistency is an indication to your body that you’re committed to caring for yourself, and in return, your body will provide you with the energy and strength you need to get through each day.

5. Stay motivated

Find sources of inspiration for your health, business and family. Remaining inspired will keep you excited about the work that you’re doing and reinforce the need to maintain your health in order to be at your best.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

6. No comparisons

Don’t waste your time comparing your business, family or body to someone else. You, and everything about you, are uniquely created and full of your very own purpose. Comparing yourself tells God that what you have, and who you are, are not quite good enough.

7. Ask for help

Asking for help is not a sign of weakness and may be one of the greatest things you can do for your health, family, and business. Building a strong support system and aligning the resources you need to navigate each day is a sign of strength. It takes wisdom and understanding to know what needs to be done and then ask for the help you need to achieve those goals.

No matter how long you’ve been in business or how many children you have, your health should be a top priority. When you’re at your best, you can give your best to every area of your life. When you take the time to nurture your mind, body and spirit, the fruit of your efforts give you abundance and you live life well.
