reflect & refocus 2017

I approach each end of year believing I am on an island – believing I am the only one dreading January 1st. This is why I don’t do goal setting. The thought of it makes me cringe. Goal setting makes me feel like I have failed before I have ever even put pen to paper.

Then I am watching others of you say 2016 was a not so great year and you know, with anticipation, that 2017 can only get better.

August 2016 came and hit me with tragedy. One of the biggest dreams I had for my life died. (a story I will share more of in the new year.) But in a moment, I decided I was not going to let it take me down and I was going to look for good EVERY WHERE I could find it. And it was there, in crazy abundance and the last 4 months have been some of the most life-giving, blessed, crazy fun moments of my life. What suddenly became tragic is ending amazing.

Which brings me to my end year funk – what if 2017 doesn’t bring life-giving, blessed crazy fun? What if the last 4 months was all God had for me. (yes, I know that sounds ridiculous)

So I sit here in the middle of both fear and hope.

Which is the point of creating these Reflect and Refocus sheets. Goal setting is good and purposeful and we should do it.  But what if every year we  also documented the whole journey. The good, the bad and everything in between and choose to see God all in it. Would we focus so much on the bad of the past year? Would we fear the new year as much if we could track God’s consistent goodness year after year?

I have updated the Reflect and Refocus sheets for this year. They are still simple – just 2 pages. Most of you are either doing Powersheets or other goal planning exercises. This doesn’t replace those tools, it just becomes a quick and simple dashboard to reflect and refocus. We encourage you to go through with your dream defenders. Then hang them somewhere you can see them.

We would love to see your progress of working through them so tag @thewellstudio and use hashtag #reflectandrefocus2017 on instagram!

How does the end of the year make you feel? Exhausted, hopeful, afraid….share with us below.

I’m not seeing them either. I am subscribed to emails, clicked the link in my email to download and it took me here to subscribe to emails… 🙁 I checked my spam too, nothing.

I’m a subscriber and received an email with a link to read more and download here. When I press that, it takes me to this page where it asks me to subscribe to receive them in my inbox. I subscribed again but still nothing :/

“Exhausted, hopeful, afraid”. It’s like you are in my head. Thank you for taking the lonliness out of these feelings.
