Maxalt canadian pharmacy Why did you start your business?

I started Jimmy Bell Baking Co. as a creative outlet. At the time, my full-time job wasn’t allowing me to utilize my creativity, so I was looking for a hobby that would. I already loved baking, and experimenting in the kitchen so I began using Instagram to post photos of the food I made. This sparked in interest in food styling, and photography. My blog is the place where I’m able to do all these things together.

What keeps you motivated?

Passion! I love the food industry. There are countless ways to be involved in the food industry and so many of them are creative. Additionally there is always so much to learn from foreign cuisines, new ingredients, to new techniques.

Also, most recently my motivation has come from my desire to build Jimmy Bell Baking Co into a brand that my grandfather (Jimmy Bell) would be proud of. He passed away suddenly a few weeks ago, before I was able to grow my business. It would have been great if my company was up and running full force in his life time, but now I’ll work on launching it and making it the very best it can be, in honor of him.

What is your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge for me is time management.  I have a full-time job completely unrelated to my brand, which means I only have evening and weekends to work on Jimmy Bell Baking Co. It often feels like there just isn’t enough time to do everything I want to do. Just a few days ago, I heard the business advice to “grow slow.” That’s the season I’m in right now.

What is your greatest reward?

Having the ability to explore my creativity while also making other happy. It’s a win/win situation. Also on this journey of pursuing entrepreneurship, I’ve stumbled upon this whole new world of creative woman entrepreneurs. These women, who are forging their own paths to follow their passions, inspire me deeply. It’s been truly rewarding to explore this space.

Why is your faith so important in running your business and in your daily life?

Without the Lord I’d be so lost in worry, and doubt. Knowing that He loves me unconditionally, and that he has a purpose for me, is what keeps me going in those seasons of my own uncertainty.

What scripture do you cling to?

It’s with these two scriptures that I feel like the Lord is speaking directly to me, he knows my heart, and my struggles, and with these two he gives me peace.

“Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known into God.”-Philippians 4:6

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

How do you stay organized?

I make lots of lists! I always have an on going list of things I need do. I find it helps me to stay focused on what my next task should be.

What office products can you not live without?

My favorite type of pen, Pilot G-2 07 to be exact! A notebook, sticky notes, index cards, and my laptop.

What apps make your life easier?

I’m not a big app user; for the most part I just stick to Instagram, and the ones that come standard on the iPhone, such as Notes. Dropbox is also great because I can always have access to photos and documents that I’ve uploaded.

When designing your office where did you get your inspiration?

I don’t have an office, just a desk in my bedroom, and my kitchen workspace! I’m inspired by bright, open, clean spaces, so if I did have an office or ideally a studio for cooking and photography, that’s the ambiance I’d want it to have.

Brands represented in your office:
