5 things to do for your business this summer

Isn’t it true that our OWN business is the last priority on our list of to do’s. My business is to handle the marketing, branding and websites for my clients but I am embarrassed for anyone to see my online presence and marketing right now because it needs to be updated. So I thought I would share my business to-do list for the summer.

1. Reorganize my services. We are always dreaming of new products or services we want to ADD to our businesses, right? But rarely do we stop long enough to think of those things we want to remove. Take time to clean up your website and marketing materials to clearly communicate what your business has to offer today. Speaking of having a website, if this is something you are currently in the process of setting up for your business, it may be worth using services that companies such as Sunlight Media offer, especially if you are struggling to create a website of your own. We all know how important this aspect of any business is. Ask a couple of people who aren’t familiar with your business to run through your site or materials and see if they clearly understand what you do, can easily navigate the site, purchase items or get in touch with you. Sometimes we are too close to our business to see what it needs. Businesses from all over require good web design to keep up with the competition, so it’s lucky that a lot of places in the South of England and the London area are covered by web design agencies, including the availability of design for Crawley businesses by Made Simple Media.

But I really need to have a collection of documents on hand to quickly send to customers discussing our pricing, production process, blog calendar, licensing contracts, website contracts and a few other things. Oh, that reminds me, I’m also intending on digitizing my business documents this year. Fortunately, this one shouldn’t be so hard, as there is a lot of document scanning software to choose from, like FilecenterDMS, that make it easier to convert your documents into pdfs. I really do encourage people to go as paperless as possible in this day and age, not only for the environment but for your own convenience too.

4. Update my images. I have a drawer of client work that needs to be photographed and a list of client work I have never featured in my portfolio or blog. I need to set aside a day to shoot and load up new images. I also need to remove old images. Your work and/or services are always getting better and more fine tuned. So show the world your best!

5. Refresh my bio. One of my favorite things to do is read other people’s bios on their websites. You may read your bio and think nothing needs to change, but chances are you have changed a little this year and maybe you want your bio to reflect a new dream, passion or direction for you and your business.

You are so right! I do not like accounting or revising or creating my work flow / process documents. However, they have risen high on my priority list despite this being my busy season. I don’t want the fact that I don’t have these things to disrupt the business I have coming in. Thank you so much for your article and reaffirming I am doing the right thing.

You are so right. It’s so easy to put off those tasks and never actually get to them. I need to make the same type of to-do list to tackle this summer. Sharing various forms and contracts to download would be such a blessing. That definitely a side of our business that I push to the wayside but need to start focusing on. Thanks for sharing and I hope you make it to the final round for the Rwanda trip!

Thanks for your support with Rwanda! What type of business do you have and what types of forms and contracts would be helpful to you?
